The Basics of Home Security Systems

If you are starting to hear bumps in the night, you may want to think about investing in one of the numerous types of home security systems.  The FBI states that in 2006 home burglaries occurred once every 70 seconds.  It is no wonder that so many people are making these extras a high priority when buying a new home. 
 
The basic operation of a security system is pretty straitforward.  Most alarm systems these days are monitored.  When the alarm is triggered, it sends a signal to the alarm company which has a central monitoring area.  The signal is sent through your telephone line and the alarm company will call your home once they receive the signal.  If there is no answer or if the person who answers the phone cannot provide the correct alarm password, the alarm company will notice the appropriate personnel whether it is the police, fire or EMS.
